An Introduction to Treating Perinatal OCD (Online) Health Practitioners Only
About:
OCD is a widely misunderstood, underdiagnosed and untreated disorder, especially in the perinatal period. Recent research suggests that perinatal OCD is more common than previously believed, and one study found that 8% of women met criteria for OCD at one stage during their pregnancy, and this increased to 17% post-delivery*.
The aim of the education session is to provide you with an introductory guide to treatment for OCD, specifically tailored to the perinatal period. This will include:
– How to identify OCD (+ specifically in the perinatal area)
– Key differences between OCD vs other disorders presentation and treatment
– Understanding the OCD cycle
– Evidence-based treatment options for OCD
– How to overcome common hurdles in OCD treatment
– Identify how clinicians can ensure their own practice aligns with gold standard treatment of OCD
